The Lukasiewicz Research Network – Industrial Automotive Institute assigns the WMI code to domestic vehicle manufacturers to ensure proper identification of vehicles in the approval procedure, approval for road traffic and recognition outside the Community.
We have been providing the code assignment service since 1979, pursuant to Order No. 27 of the Director General of the Automotive Industry Association regarding the introduction of the global automotive manufacturer code.
Assignment of the code is based on the submitted application.
We invite you to work with us to obtain vehicle type approval.

Please be advised that for new types of vehicles of categories M, N and O, as of July 6, 2022 , the following applies commission implementing regulation (EU) 2021/535, according to which a check digit must be included in the vehicle identification number (VIN) and the method for calculating this digit must be defined. This requirement was introduced to avoid clerical errors. For more information, see Annex II (including Section C) to the regulation (page 20-24).
