On September 16 and 17, 2026, Łukasiewicz – Industrial Institute of Automotive Technology participated in the Smart City Expo Poland 2026 trade show, which took place at EXPO XXI in Warsaw. The event focused on modern urban technologies, smart mobility, and solutions supporting sustainable urban development.
Smart City Expo Poland brought together representatives from local governments, public administration, the academic community, and the business sector. The expo served as a platform for showcasing new technologies, exchanging experiences, and discussing solutions that could be applied in developing cities.
Technologies for Modern Mobility
During the event, representatives from Łukasiewicz–PIMOT presented the Institute’s activities and projects related to the development of modern and sustainable transportation. The areas presented included, among others, electromobility, autonomous technologies and artificial intelligence, sustainable urban mobility, and intelligent transportation systems.
One of the initiatives presented was the European Shift2Zero project, carried out under the Horizon Europe program. Its goal is to develop solutions and features for zero-emission N1 light commercial vehicles (e-LCVs) that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the efficiency of urban logistics.
As part of the project, Łukasiewicz–PIMOT, together with the City of Wrocław and partners from across Europe, is participating in the development of a new generation of electric light commercial vehicles. The project also includes an analysis of the needs of users in the e-commerce and delivery sectors, as well as the development of solutions tailored to the specific characteristics of urban freight transport.
Science, Technology, and Collaboration
Participation in the trade show provided an opportunity to showcase Łukasiewicz–PIMOT’s expertise and ongoing research and development projects. The institute is developing solutions that address challenges related not only to electromobility but also to the use of artificial intelligence, computer vision systems, and technologies that support the functioning of smart cities.
Another important aspect of our participation in the event was meeting and talking with representatives of local governments, businesses, research institutions, and organizations active in the field of new technologies. It provided a forum for exchanging experiences, presenting ongoing projects, and discussing opportunities for applying the results of research and development in practice.
Toward Sustainable Mobility
Łukasiewicz–PIMOT’s participation in Smart City Expo Poland 2026 is part of the Institute’s efforts to develop safe, innovative, and sustainable mobility. Events of this kind allow us to combine the expertise of the scientific community with the needs of government and the market, and to create a space for the further development of urban technologies.
