About the Institute
Lukasiewicz Research Network – Industrial Automotive Institute conducts R&D work in the automotive field. The Institute’s activities are focused on the development and testing of automotive technologies. The most important areas of activity include:
- Vehicle construction-components, mechanisms, systems, vehicle systems and complete vehicles
- Active and passive vehicle safety systems,
- advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS),
- Vehicle automation and autonomization systems,
- Electromagnetic compatibility of complete vehicles and their electrical and electronic components,
- Vehicle technologies for national defense and security,
- Alternative energy sources in vehicles,
- Fuels, biofuels and renewable energy sources in automotive applications.
Our offer is aimed at entrepreneurs in the automotive, transportation, fuels and renewable energy, and defense and national security sectors seeking R&D support in the process of improving and marketing their products.

Our laboratories and testing units operate in accordance with the highest quality standards. Confirmation of our technical competence is provided by numerous accreditations and authorizations granted by recognized institutions.
Management
Dr. Karol Zielonka, Eng.
Director of the Lukasiewicz Research Network – Industrial Automotive Institute, Vice President of the PGM Board. Since 2018, member of the General Council for Science and Higher Education.
Experienced manager, automotive enthusiast and scientist specializing in vehicle safety. Author of innovative inventions covered by national and European patents and numerous scientific publications in the automotive field. A graduate of the Radom University of Technology and the Jaroslaw Dabrowski Military University of Technology in Warsaw, where he defended his doctorate with distinction, obtaining a doctorate in technical sciences. He also completed postgraduate studies in road accident reconstruction.
Dr. Ing. Pawel Posuniak
Deputy Director for Research. Since 2013 he has been associated with Łukasiewicz – Industrial Automotive Institute.
He specializes in vehicle safety research and the implementation of innovative solutions for the automotive industry. He has many years of experience in conducting approval studies and tests according to the requirements of the European market. He has participated in numerous research and development projects, including passive safety of vehicles and solutions for energy storage systems. He is the author of scientific publications and a speaker at national and international conferences.
Dr. Luke Socha
Deputy Director of Finance and Operations. Doctor of Economics, academic lecturer, manager with experience in both institutions in the scientific sector and companies in the automotive and rail transport sector. He has consolidated his academic knowledge with twenty years of professional experience in the areas of controlling, finance, administration, purchasing, information systems management, and real estate management. His research interests focus on the unpredictability of financial markets and the phenomenon of financialization.
Our story
Łukasiewicz Research Network – Industrial Automotive Institute is first and foremost people who are passionate about creating the history of Polish automotive industry.
The Institute’s history dates back to 1972, when the Industrial Automotive Institute was established as the central unit of the scientific and research facilities of the Polish automotive industry. After World War II, the Polish economy had to rebuild anew. Prominent Polish scientists and engineers began an intensive process of reconstructing Poland’s automotive construction and research potential

Our patron
The patron of our research network is Ignacy Łukasiewicz, born in 1822 in Zaduszniki – a Polish pharmacist, entrepreneur, social and patriotic activist, philanthropist and pioneer of the oil industry.
