Electronics and Acoustics Laboratory

The Laboratory carries out research work with regard to:

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of:
  • Automotive vehicles, wheeled agricultural or forestry tractors, and motor vehicles having two or three wheels;
  • Electrical and electronic equipment used in the vehicles mentioned above;

Electrical and electronic equipment, including:
  • Anti-theft devices, such as alarm, vehicle location, and immobiliser systems;
  • Electrical and electronic equipment supplied with power from a cigarette lighter socket;
  • Electrical systems of motor vehicles;
  • Anti-theft devices for motor vehicles with handlebars;
  • Armoured bank vehicles and cash carrying vehicles;
  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of vehicle anti-theft protection systems;
  • Developing of new research and measuring techniques;
  • Internal and external noise generated by automotive vehicles, motorcycles, and mopeds;
  • Noise emitted to the environment;
  • Noise and mechanical vibrations having an impact on the human body;
  • Vibro-acoustic performance of deadening materials;
  • Exhaust systems and silencers;
  • Warning acoustic signals of automotive vehicles;
  • Agricultural or forestry tractor driver seats.

Basic research equipment of the Laboratory:

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing apparatus:

  • GTEM 1000 cell;
  • Test stand for testing the immunity to, and emission of, intermediate state radiation of electrical and electronic vehicle components;
  • Test stand sets for specialized tests of automotive electrical and electronic equipment;
  • Set of measuring and research equipment for testing the electromagnetic compatibility;
  • Set of test stands for checking the resistance to low and high temperatures, humidity, rainfall, dust, and vibrations;
  • Set of equipment for electrical measurements;
  • Set of measuring and research equipment for noise and vibration tests;
  • Set of measuring and research equipment for testing the vibro-acoustic performance of deadening materials.

 The laboratory guarantees:

  • performance of the above mentioned tests by experienced engineering staff (long-term cooperation with world producers),
  • unique research facilities,
  • short test periods.

The Laboratory is capable to carry out environmental tests of automotive electrical and electronic products in conditions corresponding to those likely to occur in actual service. In particular, tests may be carried out to assess product susceptibility to such factors as:

    • Low and high temperatures;
    • Humidity, rainfall;
    • Dust;
    • Vibrations.

Certificates

The Laboratory has obtained Accreditation Certificate No. AB 082 (PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005) issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation.

The Laboratory has been authorised by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Construction, and Maritime Economy to carry out evaluation and type-approval tests for conformity with the following:

    • UN ECE Regulation No. 10 “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to electromagnetic compatibility”;
    • UN ECE Regulation No. 18 “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of motor vehicles with regard to their protection against unauthorized use”;
    • UN ECE Regulation No. 28 “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of audible warning devices and of motor vehicles with regard to their audible signals”;
    • UN ECE Regulation No. 59 “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of replacement silencing systems”;
    • UN ECE Regulation No. 62 “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of power-driven vehicles with handlebars with regard to their protection against unauthorized use”;
    • UN ECE Regulation No. 97 “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicle alarm systems (VAS) and of motor vehicles with regard to their alarm systems (AS)”;
    • UN ECE Regulation No. 116 “Uniform technical prescriptions concerning the protection of motor vehicles against unauthorized use.”
