This year’s edition of the International Defense Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce was, for Łukasiewicz, – PIMOT an opportunity to present the latest solutions developed with national security and defense in mind, as well as to discuss potential cooperation with representatives from industry, government, and the research community.
During the trade show, we showcased technologies related to, among other things, autonomous systems, unmanned vehicles, mobility, and operational support. A key highlight of our participation was the debut of ALTRAX —the latest unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) developed by Łukasiewicz–PIMOT.
ALTRAX – a new generation of unmanned platforms
ALTRAX is a modular platform designed to carry out autonomous and remotely controlled missions in military and civilian environments. The vehicle’s design allows it to be adapted to various types of tasks and equipped with additional systems, depending on the user’s needs.
The platform can be used, among other things, for surveillance, inspection, and logistics tasks. The implemented solutions also enable the vehicle to move autonomously.
During the MSPO ALTRAX trade show, it was presented to a wide audience for the first time, becoming one of the most important elements of this year’s Łukasiewicz–PIMOT presentation.
PAWO – Autonomy and Operational Support
Visitors to the institute’s booth could also see the Autonomous Operational Support Platform (PAWO) —an electric off-road vehicle designed to operate in diverse environments.
PAWO can be controlled remotely or operate autonomously. The platform’s modular design allows it to be adapted to perform specific tasks, including those related to logistics, equipment transport, and operational support.
ALTRAX and PAWO represent two directions of unmanned technology development at Łukasiewicz – PIMOT. A key focus of our work is not only the platforms themselves but also the technologies enabling their autonomous operation—including perception, localization, control, and data processing systems.
Science and Industry—A Collaboration That Leads to Implementation
The MSPO also served as a platform for developing cooperation with industrial partners. During the trade fair, Łukasiewicz–PIMOT signed a cooperation agreement with Wojskowe Zakłady Łączności Nr 1 S.A.
The agreement marks the beginning of a new phase of cooperation between entities whose expertise and experience can complement one another. Combining Łukasiewicz–PIMOT’s research and scientific infrastructure with the industry’s experience and manufacturing potential creates the conditions for the joint development and implementation of new technologies.
It is precisely this collaboration between science and industry that makes it possible to translate research findings into concrete solutions that meet the needs of the security and defense sector.
Technologies for security
This year’s Łukasiewicz-PIMOT presence at MSPO was also an opportunity to showcase the broader scope of the institute’s activities. These include technologies for the defense sector, testing and certification of military equipment, autonomous systems, special vehicles, and solutions related to security and mobility.
However, the end of the trade show does not mean the end of our discussions. The meetings and exchange of experiences during MSPO serve as a starting point for us to continue our cooperation, develop projects, and explore new applications for the technologies we are developing.
