Bioeconomy, biofuels and alternative fuels

Bioeconomy, biofuels and alternative fuels

Customer Service Department

The bioeconomy and closed-loop economy involve the development of technologies that enable the efficient use of biological resources for the production of energy, fuels and other high-value-added products. Our work includes research on biomass fermentation, biofuel production, fuel storage, and biomass culture, including microorganisms and microalgae.

Our efforts are focused on developing technologies to support the energy transition and increase the share of renewable energy carriers in the economy.

Energy carriers and biofuels

One of the main areas of activity is research into renewable energy carriers, particularly biofuels derived from biomass.

Research areas:

  • gaseous biofuels: biogas and biomethane
  • RFNBO liquid biofuels (in cooperation with third parties)
  • analysis of the potential of raw materials for biofuel production

Biogas and biomethane research

The research includes work related to:

  • analysis of the methanogenic potential of raw material bases
  • optimization of the raw material base for biogas production
  • pretreatment of biogas
  • Development of biogas production technology in fermentation reactors

Biomass fermentation

Biomass fermentation is one of the key processes used to convert organic materials into fuels and other energy products.

Research conducted:

  • methane fermentation
  • alcoholic fermentation
  • Dark fermentation (undergoing preliminary studies)

The research includes analysis of biochemical processes, optimization of fermentation conditions and evaluation of the possibility of obtaining various energy products from biomass.

Storage and aging of fuels and biofuels

An important part of the development of alternative fuel technology is the study of fuel stability during storage.

Scope of work:

  • Development of fuel and biofuel storage methods
  • proprietary method of accelerated fuel aging
  • quality testing of fuels during storage
  • selection of additives to improve the properties of fuels and biofuels

These studies make it possible to assess changes in fuel properties over time and develop solutions to increase their stability and durability.

Biomass farming

We are also researching the breeding of biomass for use as an energy feedstock or material for other biotechnology products.

Scope of work:

  • microalgae and cyanobacteria culture
  • optimization of biomass growing conditions
  • stimulation of microbial growth
  • Use of biomass for the production of fuels and other products (e.g., oils)

The research also includes analysis of different strains of microorganisms and evaluation of their potential in energy and industrial applications.

Analysis and expertise

Activities also include analyses to support the development of biofuel technologies and energy systems based on biological resources.

Scope of work:

  • product life cycle analysis (LCA)
  • reaction kinetics studies
  • technological and scientific expertise
  • Development of fuel storage policies

This research supports the development of bioeconomy technologies and enables the assessment of their environmental and economic impact.
